Dan Funderburgh is a wallpaper designer and artist in Brooklyn, NY. His patterns, prints and installations are varied in content but all demonstrate an unabashed love for decorative arts. With influences ranging from Moorish mosaic to American op art, the work blurs the boundary between, yet raises the question, what is art and decoration.

Saikat Biswas is an Industrial Designer from India, currently residing in Finland. I was forwarded his work on a Holga D concept which is quite simply, a beautiful piece of design purity. A digital camera that retains the qualities and simplicity of the original Holga camera and brings back the joy and delayed gratification associated with good old analog photography. See more in-depth details over on Saikat’s site.
‘Emer Swift‘ is a new bike company created by none other than wednesday local and old school shredder Johann Chan. Creating a line of 24inch cruisers with modern BMX geometry allowing the rider to maintain all control and maneuverability while rolling on lager wheels and a higher gear ratio. Just to top it off all the decals have been lovinly designed by Seb Lester. He creating a logo that looks strong and robust, like the frames themselves, so it’s got a solidly constructed feel to it without looking clunky.

Eight Armed Pet is the portfolio site of Wednesday clubs one and only Chris Gorden. This newly launched alias is filled to the brim with lovely editorial delights for such clients as Ride, Document and +1 Magazine as well as a whole host of other project. I’m especially fond of the clean, minimalist design of his Document covers set.
6 Breaths‘ is a two part film installation by Tim Richardson for the world premiere of Sydney Dance Company choreographer Rafael Bonachela’s latest work. A unique combination of 3D scanning and animation, the films are an expression of breath in three dimensions. The narrative within the films follows the thematic cycle of life within Bonachela’s choreography. From beginning: first breath, to end: last breath and rebirth.

For six weeks from September 14 2010, London gallery Chelsea Space is hosting PROCESS, an exhibition focusing on the working practices of the late designer Barney Bubbles. The show will contain many never-before-seen items drawn from private collections, including student notebooks, design equipment and tools of the trade, working sketches, original artwork, paintings, reference books and photography. These were the raw material for record sleeves, posters, advertising, branding and marketing campaigns for such performers as Ian Dury, Hawkwind, Elvis Costello, The Damned and Billy Bragg as well as for Conran Design and provisions company Justin de Blank.

Subtly mixing classic vintage bike design with the occasional ridiculous build ‘Bishops Path Racers‘ has it all. Take for example the above with a frame the separates at the seat tube and in effect creates negative clearance… I’m still getting my head round that one. Formed in 2009 by a group of New Zealand bike enthusiast in a garage on Bishop Street, Christchurch. They are dedicated to restoring and building custom Path Racers for all to enjoy.
