The Abandoned Pod City of San Zhi was commissioned by the Taiwanese government and several local firms. It was an attempt at a luxurious vacation resort for those travelling from Taipei. It was even going to include an amusement park. The project was abandoned with out ever being completed. The architect is unnamed and speculation about why the site was abandoned varies, with the most interesting being that a series of fatal accidents occurred during construction, causing locals to believe the site was haunted but a slightly more mundane reason listed for the abandonment was the developer running out of money.

Roden Crater is a natural cinder volcano situated on the southwestern edge of the Painted Desert in northern Arizona. Since 1972, with grants from Dia Art Foundation, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts, James Turrell is turning this natural geographic formation into a monumental environmental artwork. He has designed a series of chambers and observation platforms in the crater, in line with the sun, moon, stars, and planets, inspired by ancient sites like Stonehenge and Egyptian temples.

Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen’s Incredible viewing platfrom look out over the stunning Sogne Fjord, its an unbelivably simple design, an elegantly surreal walkway that dives down to form its own support, even the railings along the top follow the platforms walls over the 600 metre high drop, only a thin peice of perspex seperates people from the slide off the edge. maybe not one for people scared of heights.

Commissioned by Prada and designed by Rem Koolhaus, The Prada Transformer is a greatly anticipated new pavilion in Seoul that will be altering the city’s skyline for the next five months. The steel structure combines four sides of a tetrahedron: hexagon, cross, rectangle, circle and will be flipped using cranes to completely change the visitors experience with each new exhibition. The pavilion which is covered in an elastic, translucent skin opens to the public tomorrow with Miuccia Prada’s exhibition ‘Waist Down’ and will also be hosting a film festival, art exhibition and other fashion related events during its short life span.

Patrick Blanc builds gardens on walls. He is part biologist, part Gardener and part architect and he uses these skills to create awsome green spaces, across europes congested cities. using advanced materials and rather elaborate watering systems he can create litteral gardens that hang off walls, up to any height. he uses ferns and moss often giving his constructions a cave-like, jungle feel both for texture and visual effect. some of his most impressive work can be seen in paris and tokyo, including gardens inside basement car-parks, malls and offices.
A real french adventure.
